almost there

Jerri:

76 miles to go! We should arrive to the marina around midnight and either anchor or tie to the customs dock. Not a particularly convenient time to dock especially with the essential crew member incapacitated. I don’t see leaping from the boat onto the dock with a line in hand (in the dark no less) in my immediate future. Tim is confidant he can do it on his own, but I like to think I play a vital role.

A search and rescue plane flew over us earlier and announced on the VHS that there was a possible distress signal. We’ve seen no other boats, seas are calm and no weather so I hope all is well out there. We will lose some food in NZ. Any fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, nuts, etc. I popped the remaining popcorn kernels that Syd brought me in July and ate for lunch. There weren’t many, but I wasn’t about to sacrifice those gems. The heck with the leftover beef tenderloin. Besides that, I am sad that Speakeasy (Mark and Dee) isn’t already in NZ gathering all sorts of great information for us and ready to meet for drinks and dinner. It’s been so much fun coming and going and meeting up with friends and sad to lose two of the best. Luckily, we still have John and Deb on Moonshadow to follow around for a little while at least.

I hope to find a clinic tomorrow afternoon or Saturday to check out the knee. It’s the NZ Labor Day weekend so Monday is a holiday. Anyone know about medical care in NZ?

Jeri, where are you headed first? My old friend (who delivered both of my boys) lived and worked as a surgeon in Christchurch for many years. He is now stateside, but I can easily ask him for suggestions for your knee. Let me know if I can help. Xo Cindy

I sure hope that you find some help for your knee. At least you are in a country that does have modern medical facilities. Best to you!
