Opua

Jerri:

We’ve done some fun things and some maintenance type things this past week in Opua. Driving around here is stunning and entertaining. I love the rolling green countryside dotted with sheep and cows, other miscellaneous livestock, and birds. We went on a tour of the Waitangi treaty grounds on Monday and learned more about the history of the Maori and English heritage of NZ. We’ve also gone to 3 movies which has been a wonderful treat.
On Wednesday we drove down to Auckland where I got an MRI and saw an orthopedic surgeon. My diagnosis is damage to the ACL, but no major tear so no surgery. Yay! Today I will begin PT in Whangerei. We’ll drive down this afternoon, but will move the boat over the weekend and hang out there during my recovery period.
Tim is playing golf at Kauri Cliffs today. It’s supposedly a magnificent club. He went to play yesterday, but our “rent-a-dent” died on the way so he had a several hour car exchange to deal with instead. I asked him if there would be other rent-a-dents in the country club parking lot and he was skeptical. This whole cruising life keeps us humble.
Besides that, I’ve been booking tickets to different events while we are in NZ, cleaning and re-organizing the boat for a different environment (cooler and wet), resting and icing a lot, and slowly shuffling around.
We are glad to be here.

Sounds like an oxymoran “The whole cruising life Keeps us humble”! Glad you are enjoying NZ
