After lunching on coconut ginger prawns I headed out on a bike ride. We are anchored near Hanga Roa on the S. end of the island. According to the maps, there are not roads on the N.W. part of the island so I cut up through the middle to minimize the headwind and then road back along the coast. There were tons of horses, but they are branded, not wild. I imagine they are range free or whatever the horse equivalent terminology is. When I whistled, they slowly worked their way to the other side of the road. I thought about using the bike bell, but I don’t know horses well and didn’t want to inadvertently cause a stampede.
It was surreal to be riding through horses, cows, chickens, and Maoi. Tonight we’ll have dinner out somewhere where we can observe the boat. We can’t quite decide if having someone stay on the boat is mandatory or recommended.
Tomorrow, Roni, Sven and Tim will work and I’ll go for another bike ride!

- Easter Island
- It wouldn’t be an adventure if it was all easy
Jer I just took a look at the Easter Island and the Moai on the computer. It says that there are 900 Moai. Are the faces repetitive or look different from each other? What an amazing landscape…let’s see a couple of Miller’s amongst them! cheers to the first big leg of your adventure.
