Jer:
Getting up in the middle of the night is not becoming any easier. If I’m worried I may drift off during watch, I set an alarm for 15 minutes, but have never needed it. Part of the difficulty in staying up is the lack of any traffic to obsess over and not a lot of sail adjustments. There’s the occasional minor squall, but overall steady winds for long periods of time. I guess there’s no land to mess with the wind.
Two nights and days ago there were lots of squalls, but yesterday was beautiful. We have nice wind and following seas so are making reasonable steady progress in a pleasant manner. We should only have 4 more nights and arrive in Gambier sometime on the 3rd.
Tim caught a yellow fin tuna yesterday afternoon providing some diversion and dinner. I wish we could post a photo. We also are unable to post replies to comments at the moment. Sorry about that – I’d love to be able to. We’ll get fixed when we have a better connection or find someone to administer the site.
I hope to make it one more hour before waking up Tim. Ugh. I tried computer chess last night and that was a bust. I guess it will be reading or solitaire to get through the next 60 minutes.
Sayonara.
