Jer:
Yesterday we took off for what appeared to be an easy, albeit slow, sail to Hao. There are four weather forecasts that we use to determine routing and departure times. One of them turned quite nasty late last night and had us heading into a decent storm that we don’t have the fuel to ride out or to avoid so Tim decided to turn around. The picture shows the forecast with 50+ knots of wind and we would have been the little white dot.
We have time on
our side, Gambiers are lovely, and still projects to do. I wasn’t ready to leave yet anyway so I’m happy, but it was a long night to end up back in the same spot.
We will get some walking and hiking in, maybe I’ll pull the bike out, but primarily I’m anxious to clean the stainless. I love getting the rust off. I’m also going to have Tim give me some chart plotting tutorials and we will probably finish the last season of Downtown Abby. We can’t download movies here so finishing the season may be traumatic. My reading has slowed down. Finished City on Fire by Garth Risk Hallberg last week and The Bone People by Keri Hulme at 3:00 a.m. this morning. I’m not sure I understood either one of them.
We also are in the process of hiring a website administrator due to tons of spam and the difficulty of working on it over low speed internet connection. I hope this hasn’t caused any frustration to my large group of readers.

Seems like a good call !!!
