We had the great privilege of connecting with Mike and Debbie on Andiamo. She’s another Chris White Atlantic 47 Mastfoil. See picture attached.
There is something very special about being introduced to a new anchorage and community by someone who knows the ropes. We arrived a few days ago and have had a wonderful string of days together. The first day we had Mike and Debbie over after we anchored to say hi and have a glass of wine. We then made it over the the beach barbeque and met a dozen or so cruisers for a potluck.
The next day they took us on a fantastic drift snorkel in the Fakarava south pass. Then to the local dive shop and restaurant for a beverage and back to the boat for an early night.
The next day Mike and another boat (Namaste) came by and said let’s go scuba dive the pass so we did that and relaxed and heard stories from the long time French divemaster at the bar before heading home where Jerri and Debbie were babysitting a beautiful little girl from Namaste. We later had dinner aboard Andiamo on the back deck and while I could hardly keep my eyes open it was a special evening.
The next day we slept in, did some stand up paddle boarding again, delivered a dozen or so Marlin steaks to neighboring boats and hung out with Mike and Debbie on our boat and had a quiet dinner alone.
Today Andiamo left to so we are on our own and decided to try snorkeling the fast incoming rip current in the south pass and witnessed several hundred reef sharks below us. First we did a drift snorkel and second we did a drift with the dingy alongside. Fantastic view of the sharks.
We came home, had a special treat of hot dogs for Memorial day and decided to head off on the SUP’s to maybe go the the local bar hangout, but only made it to the first motu (reef island), rested, and turned around.
This afternoon we’re reading, writing a blog post and perhaps will head in for another potluck on the little motu by our anchorage.
Life is good.
What a life…Moveable Feast on a ship! Being part of a floating community intrigues me. This is the first time I’ve seen a photo from a distance of Agility (on the right, correct?).
