One of the things boat people do is make shirts with their boat name on them. It’s nice because you run into people on the water, make friends incredibly fast, part ways, and then run into them again days, weeks, month, or even years later. For those that don’t know me, I can’t remember names which has been a source of embarrassment and never ending frustration for me. I’ve had colleagues that I worked with side by side for years (Sorry Chris Hogue) and forgot their name in some social situation. I suspect this is a major contributing factor to my fear of public speaking and while I’ve mostly overcome my ability to speak to large groups I still tense up, start sweating and now with age almost always have my back start knotting up before a speech.
I can usually remember the name of the boat because it tends to have some meaning that I can grab hold and store in my fickle brain. Blue Rhapsody was a flag blue hull that brought joy to me and hopefully all those she carried. Agility is a fast, lightweight, simple, purpose built cruising cat. Sounds Agile huh?
I did this in the past with Blue Rhapsody but never really liked the way they turned out. This time I asked an old friend and colleague Matt Luckwitz (www.grafport.com) to knock something out to capture the simple, fast, unique rig of Agility that will be memorable for those ADHD, introverted cruising folks that have a lossy memory like me.
If you come visit us on the boat, you’ll likely get something with this art on it!
Really like the new boat shirt logo. Everything says Agility–shapes and colors. Can’t wait to get one!
Very Very Cool logo.
Like the logo a lot!
OMG, I often blank out on the names of people I have know for years as well, in those situations….
Nice shirt. I may visit just to get a free T
I really like it – very very nice work by you and Matt. Fast, agile and cool
Hello Tim,
I LOVE the new logo!! So much so I’d like to ask a favor since I haven’t sailed off into retirement just yet, & still have to speak in front of customers … 🙂
DT & myself have been working on a new sharp where we’re using an imagine of the Titanic, & the story line goes like this … “Imagine yourself as the Captain of the Titanic with nothing to help you avoid icebergs except for a sailor in the crow’s nest with binoculars … imagine if he’d had state-of-the-art alerting & signaling so that he could navigate, steer & pivot in time … that’s what you get with Rally!” We also enjoy mentioning that the designers told him he was “unsinkable” … 😉
Needless to say if wasn’t long before our sharp had iterated into … “Who would you rather be the Captain of the Titanic, OR Captain Tim Miller sailing off on the Agility?!? Like Captain Tim use Rally to alert your team to danger so you can pivot & steer in time to avoid becoming the Captain of the Titanic!!” 🙂
Know that the sailing metaphor Rallys-ON, & we hope this sharp puts a smile on your face!! 🙂 Finding an imagine of the Titanic was easy … Now with your permission I’d love to incorporate the Agility’s new logo into my slide deck … Would that be ok with you?
Or if you really like the shape … feel free to put on one of you new shirts & have your wife photograph you at the helm! 🙂
Hope you’re having a wonderful time, and I believe the correct wishes are … may you have fair winds and following seas!!
Take care,
Miss Jeffrie
