Thursday

Jerri:
Tonga is treating us well. Two nights ago we were invited to a cocktail party on board Moonshadow, our friend John and Deb’s boat who we met in Fakarava. It’s a 62′ Deshaue (sp?) designed boat – very beautiful and commodious allowing 11 of us to comfortably chat and drink in the cockpit. We left early for movie night at a local restaurant, but the Olympics were being broadcast instead. We were fine with that, but fly weight boxing and badminton were a bit of a bust with the crowd. Yesterday we hit the market and found an incredible array of beautiful basket work and wood and bone carving. We left with several baskets, two mahogany carvings (a whale and a totem pole), some whale carvings, and lots of vegetables. Some for the kids, some for us. We’ll go back for more.
Today I’m not sure what will happen. It’s pouring out and we’ve already canceled our morning jog/walk. At least we’re using our bimini with hose to capture the rain water and divert into our water tank. The only set plan we have right now is a whale watching/swimming all day tour on Friday.
