Jerri:
Things went from calm to rough quickly last night resulting in a long 24 hours. Winds picked up to be consistently in the mid 20’s to low 30’s, seas built (maybe 2 M swells?) and we had a bumpy ride. Nothing scary or dangerous, but relatively unpleasant and impossible to sleep. It all started calming down this evening making it possible to sleep, but not much fun to get up for watches! We are still not making it much more than 3 hours at a time. Usually once we get used to it, we can take longer watches.
The temperature has also dropped a good 20 degrees.
We are making okay, but not fabulous time. I hope we arrive in 7 days, but it may be another day or two. Things should continue to calm down. Hopefully the seas along with the wind. It’s no fun to have to motor in rough seas.
Fortunately, I started an excellent book about the civil war, Andersonville, by MacKinlay Kantor that is a very absorbing.
