We’re at the yard in Valdiva and things are progressing well. The biggest decision we’ve made in the last 24 hours is where on the stern of the boat to locate our name and hailing port – Boulder, CO. Looking at most of the other boats of the same model, the default is directly behind where the dinghy sits when raised. The result being that often our name would be obscured. Not all bad given my introversion, but probably not the best from a safety point of view.
We’ve decided to order new smaller lettering and put the name and hailing port on the riser of the aft steps port and starboard. I think it will look a little uncoventional, but it will be more visable and I guess that’s a good thing.
Monday is the big day to launch our boat, what’s called christening. We’ll pay tribute to King Neptune and drink some champagne. We will be staying in cabanas and a hotel until the 24th when we plan to move on to the boat.
On another front, we’re thinking 3 months is enough for French Polynesia so we’re reconsidering our plan to return to LA for our “long stay” visa.
