Day 1 Atlantic Crossing

We left Marina La Palma at 12:30PM on Monday, Nov 27th with a forecast of wind on the nose but lessoning over the afternoon and then little wind. It’s now 7:00pm and we have 6 kts apparent and are doing 3.5 kts. Not the most auspicious start but the weather forecast didn’t show anything better and the next window with similar weather in 5 days so off we go. With some luck we might catch the tail end of a decent breeze and sail more than motor.

Right now we are planning to go mostly south so that if we use too much fuel we can stop at the Cape Verde Islands and fill up our tanks.

The boat is the best prepared it has ever been so we don’t have any en-route projects that we need to complete as of yet. Hope to keep it that way.

Jerri and I ate our “last meal” at McDonalds and she’s now in bed regretting that but hopefully by the time she gets up that will pass.

We had a nice school of smaller dolphins swim by just before dinner. I still love that and it reminds me of sailing with my Dad as a child.

We have 2,614 total nautical miles en-route if we follow our course. We shall see.

I have been enjoyed reading all your post. After reading, I typically spend ~10 mins thinking (day dreaming) what it must be like.

This is your world, we just live in it.
