Jerri:
I’ve gotten quite behind in the blog posts. I blame a combination of extreme goofing around with friends, having great places to walk, good internet connection (causing a major waste of time on Facebook and reading the U.S. news), a few boat projects, a couple of good books, and total exhaustion between all of the other stuff.
This morning I’m sitting on the aft deck drinking coffee while Tim plays in the Musket Cove Regatta golf tournament. My friends Dee and Mark will pick me up in an hour for a nice hike through the hills and along the beaches of this beautiful resort. We’re participating in a 6 day regatta with tons of events. Yesterday was the first sail, but not enough wind caused it to turn into more of a motoring event. After a couple of hours we arrived to Beachcomber Island resort where we were made to run the gauntlet over hot cools, etc, followed by a shot of rum that had to be the inspiration for participating in the limbo competition. There was also native dancing, buffet lunch, music, tug of war, and all that type of stuff. With only the one shot of rum, we happily left a little early and missed the wet t-shirt contest. Not much happening today after the golf tournament so we’ll make some water, do a little cleaning, and be quiet. Tomorrow is a short 3 mile race and the big event is Monday.
My mom and cousin arrive on the 28th and we’re so pleased that they are coming to Fiji. It’s very nice here and lots of fun things to do along with opportunities to get away from it all and experience the native culture.
Stay tuned…
