Paradise

Jer:
Fakarava is exactly what comes to mind when imagining a tropical island paradise in Polynesia.
We arrived around 4 p.m. leaving us plenty of light tie to negotiate our way in amongst the coral heads and put down anchor. Our friends Mike and Debbie from Andiamo (sister ship to Agility) were watching out for us at the dive shop and helped guide us in. I was intimidated when I first saw the pass we were entering because it looked like one big breaker to me, but there was a narrow entry that we got through just fine. Then the trick is to avoid the reefs and the boomers (small random coral heads).
After getting settled, Mike and Debbie came over for a bit and then we headed in to a group bonfire and potluck and met several of the other cruisers. It’s a nice group of people. Many of them come here every year for a few months to kiteboard and dive.
I had plenty of initial energy and excitement upon arrival, but faded fast and was happy to get back on Agility and go to bed. Tim checked his watch in the middle of the night, I woke up and asked if it was time for my watch. It was wonderful to be reminded that we’re at anchor. Tim’s inflating the paddleboards and we will go explore soon.
