Jerri:
12:30 p.m. night one and all is well. The wind is squirrelly tonight, we’re surfing a lot, and things were feeling a little sporty so I reefed the sails. It’s a lovely night under the stars, but after my second significant dousing of seawater I headed into the salon.
Suwarrow was fantastic and I think Tim did a great job writing about the island so I won’t elaborate too much. There were 5 boats in the anchorage when we arrived, but only two of us were left his morning. It was nice to get to know some more people that we will run into down the road. One of the couples lost their autopilot and had to hand steer for 18 days! 1 hour on, 1 hour off. I don’t even like to think about it. Alex is doing better on this passage, but Elizabeth felt gross today. They maintained a low profile. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Winds and swells building a little, but supposed to start slowing down in a couple of hours.
I went outside and got hosed down again. Ha. Third time today. We also got up to 14 knots a minute ago so I’m glad I reefed when I did. I adjusted course and thought we were settling in a bit, but not so sure that’s meant to be.
Poor Floyd (the Agility gecko) has been glued to the same spot for over 30 hours. I’m concerned about the Suwarrow ranger fumigation and hope he’s not ill.
I guess I better continue to focus on the sailing. No read-a-thon tonight.
